Houston Zoo | Pongos Helping Pongos
Having spent a great deal of my childhood surrounded by rainforest, when the Houston Zoo approached me with a project supporting their conservation efforts, I was happy to be on board. As an enrichment activity, the zoo had been supplying their elephants and orangutans with brushes, paints and canvas with which to create artwork. Once the public became aware, the demand for this artwork grew, and the idea for Pongos Helping Pongos was born.

Orangutans (latin name Pongo) would create paintings, which would later be exhibited in a local art gallery and auctioned off with the proceeds going to help orangutan conservation in the wild. This initiative was so successful, a partner zoo in Brazil mirrored the project and I was again approached to work on a logo and merchandise, but this time to benefit tapir conservation.
